We are less than two months away from the start of the 2008 NFL Football Season. While premature, I’d like to get the word out there on the new way the Pick Em and Survivor Leauge will be done. In our sixth season of play, the game has evolved.

How to Play
ebTalk NFL Pick Em League
The NFL Pick Em League, you just choose from each week’s games the teams you believe will win straight up. Correct picks are worth 1 pt and incorrect picks are worth negative -0.50 pts. You do have the option not choosing a winner for any individual game and receiving zero points.
There will also be bonus games throughout each week. Some games will be listed as a DOUBLE meaning if you correctly pick it, you earn 2 pts but if you are in correct, you lose one points. TRIPLE bonuses will also be available for 3 pts but you lose 1.5 if you are incorrect. DOUBLE and TRIPLE bonus games will be determined well in advance of each particular week.
As a bonus also, everybody’s worst week will be excluded from the final score will tallying up the overall winner. So if you miss a week, there’s still breathing room. Games will only be for the regular season. The Half-Season Payout will include all weeks up until Week 8.
Picks can be turned in via e-mail or on the forums at ebTalk (http://forums.ebtalk.com) at a specified section. Picks are due by the gametime. Any changes to your picks must be made via e-mail to Eddy or in another post on ebTalk before the start of that game. All posts on ebTalks with picks and individual picks via e-mail will be kept hidden until gametime to where you can view them on the forum. The only picks that will be made public will be Eddy’s. Please note, you are allowed to turn in partial picks. If there is a Thursday game, you can turn in your Thursday pick and then the rest of Sunday picks in afterwards.
Cash prizes will be given out to the Top Overall Scorer , 2nd Place and 3rd Place as well as the top first half (of the season) scorer and second half scorer.. If at least 25 people sign up, weekly payouts will be awarded.
ebTalk NFL Survivor League
In the ebTalk NFL Survivor League, the object of the game is to select ONE TEAM you think will win from the game of your choice. That’s it. One for sure pick! For example, if Dallas is playing Oakland and you are absolutely positive Dallas will win, Dallas will be your pick.
The catch of the game though is you cannot choose a team twice throughout the season. So if you choose New England in Week 1, you cannot choose them again for the rest of the season. In the past two Survivor Leagues once you missed a game, you were out for good but the game has changed.
Everybody will be allowed two incorrect guesses. If you choose Kansas City and they lose, you are still alive in the game. You still cannot choose Kansas City again though. If multiple people are still alive at the end of the season, the tie goes to the person with the least amount of incorrect picks. So if Jimmy Johns went Week 1-17 perfect and Reuben Studdard went Week 1-17 with one wrong, then Jimmy wins. If the final two people are eliminated the same week during the regular season (Pre-Week 17), then they will play again the next week for a sudden death game and cannot repick a team. This will be done until there’s a final winner. If by Week 17 there’s a tie with the same amount of incorrect guesses, pot will be split among those left.
Your Survivor Pick will be turned in with your Pick Em selections.
Cash surprises will be given to the one overall winner of the league.
This is an extremely fun and entertaining way to enjoy the upcoming NFL season. Gives you a reason to watch more of the games and have something more to cheer for especially if your team is not doing too well. Friends and family are welcome to sign up. The more the merrier and of course, a bigger pot.
